Welding and Fabrication

The Welding and Ship Fitting is a 4-year program that covers SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding processes and multiple positions. This program is intended to provide students with the working knowledge, skills, and theory in the characteristics of metals, their structure and properties, welding metallurgy, electric theory and welding technologies.

Students will gain an understanding of welding equipment, tools, safety procedures, machine operation, and industrial applications, and provide them with entry-level skills for employment. A combination of hands-on and theory students learn how to layout, fabricate, assemble and install various structures, frames, and components.
Students will develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations through the use of blueprints and templates.
